Canary Islands – A delegation of relevant  Polish companies from the renewable energies sector (wind, photovoltaic and underwater, among others) is from yesterday and today in Tenerife to see the attractions of the island for undertaking business, visit strategic infrastructure, establish contacts with local partners to invest in business projects associated with the renewable energies, explore cooperation with the sector, as well as to know the tax system offered by the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC) and the exemptions of the Tenerife Duty-Free zone and other incentives of the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF) of the Canary Islands.

The CEOs of the Polish companies, which are on this business mission, have found out during the reception/ networking event, held yesterday in the capital Santa Cruz, about the possibilities provided by the economic promotion brand Why Tenerife? composed of Tourism of Tenerife, the Port Authority of Santa Cruz of Tenerife, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Tenerife Duty-Free Zone and the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC).

This business reception was attended by representatives of the institutions that make up Why Tenerife? to present the business opportunities in the renewable energy sector from the point of the infrastructure, the technology, the connectivity, the professional qualification, the geo-strategic situation as Tricontinental hub, the tax advantages of the ZEC and the exemptions of the Duty-Free zone.

During their stay on the island, the programme planned for the Polish mission includes b2b meetings with local companies both in the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz and in Tenerife Port, and a visit is planned to the latter as reference international trade centre. In addition, there will be a circuit of visits to key facilities like the Institute of Technology and Renewable Energies of Tenerife (ITER) and the Scientific and Technological Park of Tenerife (INTECH Tenerife), where both entities plan to give them an overview of the renewable sector in the Canary Islands.

It should be noted that the archipelago currently has as a priority to promote the development of the renewable energies sector and show the possibilities offered by the islands as a laboratory for the development of this field of activity.

Canary Islands 28/02/2018.  – The Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC) has come to the Mobile World Congress 2018, one of the reference events of the mobile phone industry, whose third year has also concentrated on various thematic areas such as: the fourth industrial revolution, the provider of future services, the internet, the digital consumer, technology in society, automatic learning and innovation.

With the aim of presenting the tax opportunities of the ZEC tax at this reference event for new technologies, which is held in Barcelona from 26 February to 1 March, an important agenda of b2b meetings was closed  with investors from the sector, stakeholders in the islands as destination for t business and its potential as a platform to carry out operations to the African markets under conditions of legal certainty.

It should be stressed that the Mobile World Congress is an ideal place for the exchange of information and knowledge not only as regards the new mobile devices and related futuristic technologies, but in this year has opened up to areas related to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, the internet of things, virtual and augmented reality, digital economy, technologies, 5G and blockchain and the development of technological apps.

This fair is held in Barcelona creates a climate conducive to business networking, as well as for promoting contact between investors and companies for the performance of business associated with the new technologies. During four intensive marathon days, the ZEC has promoted the ideal that the Canary Islands, as well as its attractive taxation for these businesses that can benefit from a special tax of 4%, has the infrastructure, connections, qualified professionals and excellent quality of life.

The ZEC is co-sponsoring the second Oil & Gas Meeting Day in the Canaries

Canary Islands.- On 16 and 17 of March Las Palmas of Gran Canaria hosts  the second Oil & Gas Meeting Day in the Canaries, an initiative led by the Stier group and Saga Subsea that seeks to strengthen the positioning of the Archipelago as port hub for the offshore oil industry on the West African coast. This is the second time when the industry has met in the capital of Gran Canaria to know about the competitive advantages of the islands with respect to other locations.

The main slogan of these days of talks and networking in the sector is “Embracing the future’. Through this concept, the organizers of the event hope that companies, business associations and  public administrations dialogue about the future of the oil industry and share experiences about innovation in this sector. To do this the event is sponsored by the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo (Island Council) of Gran Canaria, the Canary Islands Special Zone and the Gran Canaria Economic Promotion Company.

The first Oil & Gas Meeting Day in the Canaries was held in March 2017. It involved 96 high-level representatives from 22 different countries. The organizers hope to repeat the success this year 2018.
